The Nature Conservancy in Arkansas is excited to host the second annual Drone TREX at the beautiful Grandview Prairie Nature Center in Southwest Arkansas. This year’s event will feature five action-packed days of classroom instruction and live-fire training.

RX - 310 Introduction to Fire Effects Southern Appalachians is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and ability to recognize and communicate the relationship between fire effects and operations, understand how fire treatments influence ecological outcomes, as well as learn about the latest tools and techniques from wildland fire practitioners and researchers in the Southern Appalachians.
The Lake States Fire Science Consortium (LSFSC) is teaming up with Pheasants Forever (PF) and UW- Platteville to combine 3 National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) certification courses into a 5 day session!
This intermediate-level training introduces key concepts in carbon monitoring, including system requirements, decision-making needs, and the concept of additionality. Participants learn how the OBIWAN application builds on GEDI’s model-based statistical framework and underlying data infrastructure to generate biomass change estimates, along with associated uncertainties, for user-defined areas and time periods. The training also covers validation approaches, including the use of U.S. Forest Service inventory data to assess the accuracy and precision of OBIWAN outputs.
This 100% online/virtual version of S-131 Firefighter Type 1 is designed for experienced wildland and prescribed firefighters currently qualified as Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) who are seeking qualification as Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) under the NWCG Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide (PMS 310-1).

The BC Wildfire Service and the City of Kelowna are delivering a prescribed fire training exchange September 28-October 9, 2026 with support from UBC Okanagan’s Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program.
CGTREX is a two-week training event intended to 1) build prescribed fire skills & knowledge through experiential training and 2) provide a boost to local capacity to accomplish burns across land ownerships in the Columbia Gorge region.

For this training, Tall Timbers will work closely with the National Delivery Team, ensuring that the RX300 Prescribed Fire Burn Boss course reflects cutting-edge knowledge and nationally recognized best practices in prescribed fire.
The RX-300 Prescribed Fire Burn Boss course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to prepare, critically evaluate, and implement a prescribed fire plan in accordance with the NWCG Standards for Prescribed Fire Planning and Implementation (PMS 484).
Prepare a prescribed fire plan in accordance with policy and guidelines
Critically review prescribed fire plans and identify the necessary information for prescribed fire implementation
Discuss prescribed fire implementation strategies and identify their application in various scenarios
Evaluate, revise, and defend a prescribed fire plan the safely meets management objectives
The course includes a combination of self-paced pre-work, asynchronous activities, and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) sessions delivered through the Wildland Fire Learning Portal (WFLP) and Zoom. Based on consistent feedback, we are transitioning this course from a single intensive week to a five-week format. Participants will be required to complete live sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, with the ability to participate in optional office-hours/ workshops on Thursdays. Recorded sessions are required throughout the duration of the course. Students will have deadlines to complete recorded videos and submit assignments.

The course combines self-paced online learning with a live, interactive virtual session.
Online Training: ~9 hours of asynchronous learning to be completed on The Tall Timbers Fire Learning Portal (Canvas) within the two weeks prior to the live session (required).
Virtual Instructor-Led Training: ½ day Zoom session (February 25 and/or 26. 0800 – 1300 PT). Followed by a 20-question exam with a 2-hour time limit (due by February 27, 2359 ET).

The Tennessee-Kentucky Wildland Fire Academy will take place January 26-February 7, 2026 in Bell Buckle, Tennessee.
This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze, plan, and implement strategies to manage smoke from prescribed fire and wildland fire. The curriculum emphasizes smoke management techniques, air quality regulations, health and safety issues, and tools for predicting, modeling, and mitigating smoke impacts on the public and transportation corridors.
The NIPTFC Interagency Burn Plan Workshop will provide an opportunity to improve and refine burn plans and will take place December 2-4, 2025.
