We are grateful for your support!

Thank you for your support of AFE programs like free webinars, our jobs board, and student resources. We also accept checks; please write "donation" in the memo line, specify if you are donating to a specific program, and send by mail.

Donation Types

AFE Programs and Endowment

Donate to AFE Programs

Donations help support AFE Programs, including the open access journal Fire Ecology, student activities, the Wildland Fire Certification Program, webinars and conferences, the Fire Ecology Chats podcasts, position papers, newsletters, awards, the Mentoring Futures Program, and more! All donations go back into the organization, as we work to serve our members and the wildland fire community.

Donate to AFE’s Endowment Fund

AFE’s Endowment Fund was created in 2015 to help plan for the long-term stability of the organization and make AFE more financially sustainable. Donations to the endowment will be added to the principal, which will generate interest and annual dividends to support AFE programs over time.

Scholarship Programs

Wayne Harrison Memorial Scholarship

Wayne Harrison, a leader in the fire ecology, prescribed fire, and founding member of AFE passed away in 2019. As a lasting contribution to the fire ecology and management community, Wayne's family partnered with AFE to fulfill his wish of creating a student scholarship to support fire ecology research and management activities internationally.

Mike Da Luz Memorial Scholarship

To support student travel to conferences, you can donate directly to the Mike da Luz Memorial Student Scholarship. This scholarship has helped 5 international students attend fire conferences since 2014.

PLanned Giving and bequests

We invite donations to AFE through wills, trusts, insurance policies, or as direct donations to the organization. Making a gift in a will or living trust (a bequest) can guarantee a lasting legacy and help ensure the long-term stability of the organization. See the resources below for more information on planned giving to nonprofits.
