SAFE Chapters
Since 2000, colleges and universities across the United States have started SAFE chapters. Our goal is to bring awareness of the role of fire in local ecosystems, and to display how we all can benefit from learning about prescribed and natural fire. SAFE consists of a network of local chapters each with a faculty advisor. Local chapters are active in creating training and field experiences, raising funds for local activities, and providing leadership opportunities for members. Student members are encouraged to participate in their local SAFE chapter, or to start a local chapter if one doesn’t exist.
For information on establishing a SAFE Chapter at your university, see the guidebook above and complete the form below.
To be considered an active chapter, chapter leadership needs to submit the Annual Update form linked above every academic year. After a 6 month grace period, any chapters that haven’t submitted the form will be listed as inactive. Chapters listed as inactive below may still be operating at their universities.
