Degrees

There are many universities and colleges that offer 2 and 4 year programs that train students for fire ecology and management professions. Several of these programs have been certified by AFE and can be found in the list below:

Employment

As you begin exploring careers, it is helpful to look at position descriptions that sound interesting to you and see what degrees, qualifications, and certifications are required. You can do that by searching the AFE Jobs Board. In addition, many graduate programs offer student assistance through research or teaching assistantships. We frequently share the positions, so keep an eye out on future postings.

  • Job Corps - Firefighting

    The Job Corps Firefighting program has the capacity to dispatch more than 1,000 Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) qualified Job Corps students nationwide to support wildland fires, all-hazard emergencies, hazardous fuels, and forest health program nationwide.
