Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture
The Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University offers undergraduate degrees in Forest Management, Forest Wildlife Management, Spatial Science and General Forestry. The General Forestry Degree Program provides a student the opportunity to specialize in a specific Tailored Program while still obtaining an SAF-accredited Forestry Degree. The Fire Management Tailored Program is one of these emphasis areas. The Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree with an emphasis in Fire Management consists of 130 semester-hours that prepare graduates for a successful, exciting career in the field of wild and prescribed fire and renewable natural resource management. The earth's changing climatic conditions not only have a direct impact on natural ecosystems but also determine the role that wild and prescribed fires will play in sustaining those systems. Increasing populations and their moves to formerly wildlands necessitate the understanding and management of natural phenomena like fire. The BSF with emphasis in Fire Management provides students with the knowledge and skills that they will need to begin their career in that field.
