The Fire Effects Monitor (FEMO) workshop provides hands-on training for personnel responsible for documenting fire effects and supporting informed decision-making before, during, and after prescribed fire operations. Participants learn how to collect meaningful observations, apply monitoring methods, interpret results, and communicate findings that help managers evaluate whether fire objectives are being achieved.

Requirements
Current Incident Qualification Card (Red Card)
S-290 Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (federal applicants; comparable knowledge accepted for others)
Personal or employer-provided medical insurance
Own PPE: fire shelter, hard hat, Nomex clothing, leather gloves, eye protection, 8" leather boots
Logistics
Tuition: No cost
Lodging: Provided at Camp Navajo by NIPFTC
Meals: Participant’s responsibility
Travel: Participant/sponsoring agency responsible for travel to/from training
Salary: Participant or sponsoring agency responsible for all salary costs
Vehicles: Provided by NIPFTC during the session
