Wildland urban interface (WUI) BC PRescribed Fire Training Exchange (Trex)

The BC Wildfire Service and the City of Kelowna are delivering a prescribed fire training exchange this fall with support from UBC Okanagan’s Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program.
This BC Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (TREX) provides a structured, experiential learning opportunity focused on prescribed fire planning, ignition, holding, and monitoring practices in a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) setting. The event facilitates cross-disciplinary collaboration between structural and wildland fire organizations and a broader community of fire practitioners, including academia, consultants, contractors, and First Nations. It fosters a shared approach for safe and effective fire use where people, property, and natural areas intersect.
