Land Stewards Fire Crew Member

As a Land Stewards Fire Crew Member, you will work as part of a team that is highly motivated to restore fire processes across Yurok ancestral lands and beyond.  Crew members participate in the implementation of cultural burning aimed at achieving culturally appropriate land management objectives such as habitat restoration, enhancing biodiversity, reducing wildfire risk, restoring and maintaining ecological conditions and processes, and removing invasive and unwanted species. As a Land Stewards Fire Crew Member, you will work with CFMC partners and landowners to restore fire to the landscape. Crew members will participate in professional development courses and workshops, with occasional assignments outside the area to support growth as a student of fire.

Prescribed Fire Practitioner (2 openings)

The Prescribed Fire Practitioner plays a key role in advancing the mission of a dynamic conservation organization that stewards over 5,000 acres of protected land and works closely with private landowners, government agencies, other organizations, and the community to bring “good fire” to the landscape. Working as part of the collaborative and highly motivated Fire Forward program, this work is performed in service of ecological health and community safety and is rooted in healing our relationship with the land and each other.

Fire, Fuels, and Forestry Program Assistant

The Fire, Fuels and Forestry Program Assistant helps coordinate a dynamic program, with duties changing by the season and opportunities to work in the field. The Assistant will help manage forestry contracts and contractors, develop environmental compliance documents, utilize GIS to create project maps, and participate in regional collaborative efforts. This position is a good fit for someone adept at working in both the office and field, who can apply local knowledge of forest and fire ecology to funding proposals, grant reports, and collaborative regional efforts.

Community Organizing Manager

The Community Organizing Manager at FireGeneration Collaborative (a program of FUSEE) is funded to help facilitate and carry out the new pilot program called the Changemakers Cohort. The cohort itself will be composed of six (6) young (18-30), BIPOC participants who are invested in advocating for a cultural and socioecological change in fire management.

Wildfire Risk Specialist

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) - Fire and Resource Assessment Program (FRAP) is currently looking to fill the position of Wildfire Risk Specialist (Senior Environmental Scientist – Specialist). The primary role of the job is to lead and coordinate projects and activities related to the evaluation of wildfire hazard and risk across California, and to support the environmental assessment and scientific functions of FRAP.
