This term position will include improving upon previous outreach efforts and establish a successful Prescribed Burn Association (PBA) in the Ridge and Valley region of Alabama and Georgia. Utilizing the PBA to conduct prescribed fires, hosting training and workshops, and working with partners to provide technical assistance will be key to seeing success in this region. Similarly, this position will assist Berry College students in fire training, prescribed fire and other land management applications

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Dugdown Conservation Manager to develop, manage, and advance strategies to protect, restore and maintain the mountain longleaf pine ecosystem and its associated habitat types within the Dugdown Corridor, which stretches from Paulding and Sheffield Wildlife Management Areas in northwest Georgia westward to the Talladega National Forest in northeast Alabama.

The Jones Center at Ichauway Plant Ecology Lab seeks a Plant Ecology Research Technician to “assist with many aspects of ongoing research and plant conservation, with particular emphasis on plant-animal interactions, plant identification in long-term vegetation monitoring plots, and seed collection and propagation.”

This position is part of a partnership between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Quail Forever, Inc. and will conduct habitat management practices such as prescribed fire, early-succession management, and ecological restoration.
