3 hours of asynchronous online learning to be completed on the Wildland Fire Learning Portal (WFLP) within the two weeks prior to the ILT session (required)
The S-230 Crew Boss (Single Resource) course is a blended training designed to provide wildland fire personnel with the foundational knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of a Crew Boss (CRWB), as outlined in the NWCG Incident Position Standards and Position Task Book (PTB) (PMS 350-98 and PMS 311-98).
Objectives
Describe the responsibilities of a Crew Boss prior to, during, and after an incident.
Identify incident hazards and risks and demonstrate ways to mitigate them.
Apply appropriate tactics and procedures to various wildland fire scenarios.
Demonstrate effective communication and decision-making through the chain of command.
Perform a thorough briefing of assigned resources.
Evaluate and implement tactical decisions related to CRWB duties.
Assess resource needs and make tactical adjustments as situations evolve.
Cost: $200 due upon acceptance into the course. Instructions will be provided regarding payment.
