Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative Coordinator

Description:

As the NCFC Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in facilitating partnerships, guiding strategic planning for wildfire mitigation, supporting fundraising efforts, and helping shape the future of fire-adapted landscapes in Northern Colorado. You can envision this position like an executive director of a nonprofit, with the Steering Committee being the equivalent to a board of directors, and the other committees (Community Engagement and Outreach, Strategic Planning and Operations, and Investment), as the programs of work that a nonprofit might have. The Coordinator will ensure the below items are executed, either as a delegated task, or as their own work, depending on the item.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, direct and report on the work of the Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative and its committees:

    • Create agendas, facilitate meetings and occasional field trips, with NCFC committees and partners.

    • Track and update work plans for each committee, periodically share progress with the NCFC, and facilitate communication and coordination across committees. 

  • Provide administrative support and fiscal management of the NCFC towards the development of long-term, sustainable funding sources. Lead development and maintenance of fiscal policies and budgets:

    • Lead or support fundraising efforts, including fundraising and grant writing with the Investment Committee and NCFC fiscal sponsor, the National Forest Foundation

  • Lead the visioning, co-development, sharing, and maintenance of strategic organizational documents.

  • Build trust and shared motivation among NCFC partners:

    • Maintain engagement with participants and other sub-landscape collaboratives, recruit and onboard new partners as capacity needs or opportunities arise.

    • Obtain commitments around shared goals from participants and hold partners accountable to their commitments.

  • Build widespread interest and support for the NCFC externally:

    • Coordinate accomplishments tracking across committees, assemble information into reports or dashboards, and communicate accomplishments to external audiences, including decision-makers and potential funders 

    • Lead government relations, in regard to the collaborative as a whole, and engage with elected officials to increase visibility and represent the interests of the NCFC. Each partner within the collaborative will additionally follow their own policies and procedures.  

  • Provide support for planning and facilitation for U.S. Forest Service and other partners to achieve NCFC outcomes. 

  • Supervise NCFC Communications Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A passion for the missions of the NCFC and TEA.

  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in program management, including planning, execution, and reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.

  • Strong facilitation skills and comfort leading meetings, workshops, and field visits.

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills, especially under tight deadlines.

  • Familiarity with collaborative decision-making, conflict resolution, and adaptive management.

  • Proficiency with digital tools for communication, file sharing, and project tracking.

  • Valid driver’s license or reliable access to transportation by start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with fire-adapted landscapes, wildfire mitigation, or ecological restoration. 

  • Familiarity with federal land management agencies (e.g., U.S. Forest Service) and their planning processes. 

  • Background in programmatic financial management, including budgeting, grant writing, and fundraising. 

  • Knowledge of Colorado’s wildfire and prescribed fire policy landscape and regional fire ecology. 

  • Fire experience – prescribed fire implementation, wildfire suppression, or as a cultural fire practitioner. 

  • Experience with GIS tools, data dashboards, or collaborative knowledge platforms. 

  • Prior work in coalition-building, community engagement, or government relations.
