Early career Award
An award initiated in 2020, the Early Career Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of fire ecology and management within first 10 years of their career.
Nominees can work in any area related to fire ecology and management and their contributions may be in research, management, teaching, service, outreach, or a combination of these areas. International nominees are accepted, and one award will be given annually.
While there is no age limitation for receiving this award, nominees should have graduated or have experienced a career change to the field of fire ecology and management within 10 years prior to nomination. Current students should be nominated for the Student Excellence Awards rather than the Early Career Award.
Note: The Awards Committee is currently working on revisions to the AFE Awards Program, and we will not be accepting nominations or giving awards in 2024. We look forward to sharing a new and improved set of awards with you in early 2025, along with the nomination instructions. If you have any feedback for us to consider as we revise the program, please contact us. Thank you!
