Celebrate Excellence in Fire Ecology Research, Education, and Management

Each year, the Association for Fire Ecology celebrates the accomplishments of exceptional individuals in the field of fire ecology and management. We have a variety of awards, which span career stages. Contributions may be in research, management, teaching, mentoring, Indigenous fire stewardship, traditional use of fire, applied science, extension, boundary spanning and partnerships, policy, or another area of focus or expertise.
Awards are presented at our annual conference or through a special online presentation if we do not meet in-person in a given year.
We welcome nominations that reflect the breadth of talent, experiences, perspectives, and career paths helping to shape the field of fire ecology. International nominees are encouraged.

Submit a Nomination
Submissions require a brief application, two separate nomination letters, and a resume or CV.
Nomination letters should be no longer than 2 pages and briefly describe
the nominee's accomplishments and the significance of their contributions
how the nominee’s work aligns with or has contributed to AFE’s mission, values, and beliefs
