Starting May 1, AFE will increase fees for most membership categories.
This change brings AFE in line with similar organizations and is the first time our membership fees have increased in seven years. With increasing travel challenges and changes to in-person events due to the pandemic, we are at a critical juncture where every member and every dollar matters more than ever. We have multiple membership options to accommodate the economic diversity of our members. When you join or renew, please select the appropriate membership type for your current situation. If you need financial assistance, please contact AFE. We understand that the pandemic has affected people in various ways, and we don’t want to lose members due to financial challenges. Or, if you have the means, please consider becoming a contributing or lifetime member; this would greatly help as we expand activities and work to reduce our reliance on conference income.
In the past year, we have started the new Fire Ecology Chats podcast, developed a new website with requested features such as a jobs board, hosted webinars and a virtual conference event, launched a new student scholarship, added new pathways to the professional certification program, developed a mentoring futures program to benefit the next generation of fire leadership, and adapted the program for the 2021 Fire Congress to create our first-ever hybrid event. We want to continue building on these successes to expand the field of fire ecology and provide wider access to science-based information. To do this, we need member support!
Notes for Renewing Members
If you have automatic renewal, the new membership fee will be reflected in your next automatic payment.
