Tall Timbers, the USDA Forest Service, and other partners are recruiting a Research Technician III to coordinate field research on the Fire and Smoke Model Evaluation Experiment (FASMEE) at sites across the US. The research will investigate the patterns and mechanisms of post-fire tree mortality and fire-vegetation feedbacks in forests, savanna, and grasslands. The incumbent will focus on a series of large permanent plots where prescribed fire is applied. The incumbent will be supervised by Dr. Morgan Varner and work closely with post-docs Drs. Tim Shearman and Nicole Zampieri at Tall Timbers and collaboratively with other scientists and staff at the USDA Forest Service, and affiliated NGOs, universities, and land managers. The position is funded for 12 months, with additional support possible beyond based on performance and funding availability.

Salary: $35,000 - $42,000 plus on-site housing in Utah and Florida
