Slot Type: 900 total hours, 20 hours/week for 46 weeks.

Location: NAU School of Forestry
Primary Function/Purpose: This position will support our science communication efforts including our fire ecology learning lab curriculum for youth.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: The science communication tasks will be at the member’s discretion and could include support for research webinars, special event planning and support, writing summaries of events, facilitation support for workshops and collaborative groups, and writing for our newsletter and website. The interns will also support climate adaptation workshops with Arizona National Forests to be held in 2025. We will look for projects of special interest to the intern and build their experiences with that in mind. In addition, the intern will be the main point of contact for our Fire Ecology Learning Lab. This will include coordinating the use of our Environmental Education traveling trunks, conducting trainings, and visiting classrooms.

Qualifications: Requires enthusiasm, desire to learn about public land management and wildland fire, and science communication. A background in natural resources management or communication is preferred, but skills will be developed for the right candidates.
