The incumbent serves as the Fire Management Officer (FMO), providing short and long-range fire management planning, program direction and coordination, and evaluation of the fire management program.
Duties
Provides overall leadership, coordination, and direction for wildland fire management, aviation management, and prescribed fire.
Serves as a recognized leader in the fire management and fire science profession.
Manages an intense and comprehensive program that performs the full range of fire management activities.
Routinely manages simultaneous operations on large, complex wildfire suppression incidents, long-term monitoring of unplanned ignitions, and one or more large, complex prescribed burning projects.
Leads operations which require complicated planning and interagency coordination, and routine mobilization of external resources.
