Fire Management Officer, Grand Teton National Park

This position is located in the Grand Teton National Park; Fire and Aviation Management; duty location Moose, WY.

The incumbent serves as the Fire Management Officer (FMO), providing short and long-range fire management planning, program direction and coordination, and evaluation of the fire management program.
 

Duties

  • Provides overall leadership, coordination, and direction for wildland fire management, aviation management, and prescribed fire.

  • Serves as a recognized leader in the fire management and fire science profession.

  • Manages an intense and comprehensive program that performs the full range of fire management activities.

  • Routinely manages simultaneous operations on large, complex wildfire suppression incidents, long-term monitoring of unplanned ignitions, and one or more large, complex prescribed burning projects.

  • Leads operations which require complicated planning and interagency coordination, and routine mobilization of external resources.
