Description:
This internship position is designed to introduce practical skills and concepts used by land managers to enhance the quality of Florida’s natural landscapes. This position will work closely with NFLT’s Stewardship department to accomplish resource management goals regarding exotic species removal, prescribed fire implementation, data collection, and more.

Position Requirements:
Enthusiasm for environmental conservation and land management
Currently pursuing or holding a degree in a related field, such as environmental science, ecology biology, forestry, or a similar discipline
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Additional Information:
This is an unpaid internship which will generate 144 volunteer service hours for the applicant
This position also provides opportunities to learn about using GIS in a field setting, native and non-native species identification, power equipment and chainsaw use, heavy equipment use, equipment management, monitoring protocol on preserved fee lands and conservation easements, and much more
The workday obligations are 12 hours per week across two days between the hours of 8:30am and 3:30pm. Work days must fall between Monday and Friday and can be negotiated with the Land Manager
