Description:
The Alpine County Community Development Department (County) is requesting proposals (RFP) for a Wildfire County Coordinator who will perform grant administration and county coordination of the California Firesafe Council Wildfire County Coordinator Program requirements as well as various other wildfire prevention grants awarded to Alpine County.
The Wildfire County Coordinator will be funded with California Firesafe Council State dollars requiring the consultant to follow all pertinent local, State, and Federal laws and regulations, including the applicable requirements of the California Firesafe Council County Coordinator Grant. This contracted position has been funded regularly since 2022 and the existing Wildfire County Coordinators contracts are expiring on 12/31/2026. Due to the amount of time passed since the original procurement, Alpine County wishes to publicly re-post the opportunity and seek proposals.
Proposals must be submitted by 4:00 PM, November 13, 2026.
The objective of the Alpine County Wildfire Projects Coordinator is to educate, encourage, and develop county-wide collaboration and coordination among various wildfire mitigation groups operating within Alpine County. The coordinator will also provide technical assistance to private landowners and groups in resource and land management related to vegetation treatment projects and land use planning. Maintaining management plans and a prioritized list of wildfire mitigation and forest health projects is crucial to the success of the program.
Alpine County is interested in contracting with a Consultant that will conduct and coordinate specified tasks related to administration of the California Firesafe Council Wildfire County Coordinator Grant, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Grant (RFFCP), the USDA US Forest Service Post Fire Disaster Recovery (State and Private Forestry) Grant, Alpine County Title III funding as well as other funding opportunities that may arise and are related to wildfire prevention, defensible space, and fuel reduction efforts. Total amount payable to the Consultant shall not exceed $150,000 annually and is entirely dependent on available grant funding for activities listed within the scope of work.
