Women in Wildfire Training / Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest

October 23rd, 2024 to October 27th, 2024


This is a fast-paced, five-day training where people from all around the nation have the opportunity to participate in hands-on wildland fire training in a simulated fire assignment. Anyone is welcome to apply, no experience necessary. After the completion of the training, cadets become certified as FFT2 (Firefighter Type 2) and will be provided with information on how to apply in USAjobs.  This link will provide you with an explanation of what is expected of a FFT2 (Firefighter Type 2).

If accepted, the training consists of 2 parts.  Part 1) approximately 50 hours of online training (must be completed before the in person portion).  Part 2) in-person field training will be held on the Black Mesa Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in Arizona.

The dates for the training are October 23rd, - 27th, 2024, cadets must complete online training and attend the in person training. Time and travel are paid for the in person training and equipment is provided.

Cadet selections will be made the week of September 1st, 2024 and notifications will be made shortly thereafter.
