USDA Forest Service Fire Lab Seminar Series
Thursday, March 12 at 10am PT/1pm ET
The People, Places, and Priorities (3P) project introduces a collaborative framework for identifying local, all-lands priorities for forest and fuel treatment planning. Built on three principles—People, Places, and Priorities—the approach emphasizes inclusive decision-making, integration of place-based knowledge, and recognition of diverse local values. Through the Meadows pilot in northeast Washington, the 3P framework demonstrated how mapping community values, identifying special places, and exploring treatment strategies can foster collaboration and reveal actionable priorities. This talk will share key lessons from the pilot and discuss how the 3P approach can strengthen forest health planning by grounding strategies in community engagement. Future pilots will refine the framework and expand its application across landscapes.
