Fire Ecologist, USFWS

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Southwest Region (Interior Regions 6, 7, & 8) is seeking a dynamic Fire Ecologist to join the Regional Fire Management Team. 

The Southwest Region encompasses Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma and manages wildland fire as well as all-risk incidents on 47 National Wildlife Refuges and 8 National Fish Hatcheries while maintaining a robust prescribed fire program. 

Incumbent serves as a Regional Fire Ecologist within the Division of Fire Management for the Southwest Region, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The incumbent is responsible for collection and analysis of field data, project, and landscape level planning input, and technical assistance needed for reestablishing fire's role in the ecological systems. Carries out studies, field reviews, and provides technical assistance on fire ecology and operations to all disciplines.  This position is covered under special retirement. 

This position is located at the Regional Office in Albuquerque, NM.
