A Wildland Fire Manager (RxB2) is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of wild-land and prescribed fire (RxFire) operations. This includes planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating  RxFire burn plans in Travis County Parks. The Wildland Fire Manager also works closely with other land management agencies and area Emergency Service Districts to ensure effective communication and collaboration during RxFire operations.
The Wildland Fire Manager is responsible for developing plans for prescribed fire, fuel management, smoke management, and wild land fire mitigation. Plans, manages and directs land management activities including vegetation restoration, invasive species control, and enhancement of wildlife habitat. Works with Park Land Management Steward on park land management activities and operations; coordinates activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; and provides highly responsible and complex staff assistance to assigned senior management staff. Coordinates and communicates with contractors, neighbors, other agencies, special interest groups, and the news media, as it relates to land management activities in County parks and conservation lands.
