This position is located at New River Gorge National River, WV. This Fire Management Specialist position has been identified as a Prescribed Fire and Fuels Specialist. This is one of the key management positions under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard.
The incumbent will help develop a complex fuels management and ecosystem restoration program in West Virginia and Ohio National Parks working with surrounding cooperators and has program responsibility for prescribed fire, fuels management, smoke management, and wildland fire. Primary responsibilities of the positions are (1) preparing and carrying out prescribed fire plans, fire effects, manual and mechanical hazardous fuel treatments, and smoke and wildland fire use monitoring; and, (2) wildland fire preparedness and suppression.
