USFS Fellowship in Forest Inventory Analysis of Wildfire Effects and Recovery in the Pacific Northwest
This research fellow will participate in a retrospective analysis of longitudinal forest inventory remeasurements collected over 20 years that include 1-year post-fire fire effects indicators to enhance our understanding of post-fire ecosystem trajectories in forests on Oregon’s “westside” under the PNW Research Station’s Westside Fire Research Initiative.
The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative and analytic skills, know their way around inventory data and large, unruly databases that merit careful inspection and QA attention, and have a good understanding of fire, fuels, and forest ecology. Experience with FVS is a bonus that enhances their chances of additional analysis diversity in the research opportunity, but is not essential.
Applications will be accepted until August 2 and 3PM EDT, unless a candidate is selected earlier. There is considerable flexibility on start date.
