Details:

  • The Alaska NPS Fire Ecology program is growing! This is an exciting time to take leadership in helping continue and expand upon the 20+ year legacy of excellent fire ecology work completed thus far.

  • This position will serve as Crew Lead for a Fire Effects module serving multiple NPS units throughout Alaska. Periods of field work may be remote, extended, and take place in logistically challenging backcountry situations.

  • Along with Fire Effects Monitoring duties, the Crew Lead may have the opportunity to participate in wildland fire activities (i.e., wildland firefighting, prescribed fire operations, fuel reduction treatments) and fire science (i.e., burn severity mapping, post-burn succession).

  • We encourage applications from individuals passionate about crew leadership, fire science, and ecological research.
