A M.S. Graduate Assistantship is available with Dr. Todd Aschenbach at Grand Valley State University. The qualified student will conduct extensive field research investigating the influence of seasonal prescribed fire on prairie and savanna community restoration at a variety of sites in West Michigan.
The successful applicant will begin work in July 2022. The student is expected to complete a thesis and required course work as requirements of the M.S. Biology degree program. This is a 2-year grant funded research assistantship position. Students will receive an annual stipend ($14,500) and a tuition waiver. Qualifications
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in natural resources management, biology, ecology, or related field; strong plant identification, communication, and data analysis skills; field research experience; a valid driver's license and good driving record; at least minimum qualifications for admission to GVSU’s Master’s program in Biology. Demonstrated leadership on a research team and course work in fire ecology and/or wildland fire certifications from the National Wildfire Coordinating Group are desired.
