Job Description:
Little St. Simons Island (LSSI) is seeking a seasonal technician to assist with a variety of tasks relating to the ecological management of the property. Work is varied and ranges from long days spent in the field to data entry and office work. Assist with prescribed burning in the grasslands on the island. Daily monitoring activities can include a strenuous bicycle ride (up to 12 miles/day) with field equipment to and along the beach. Field work is often conducted in harsh conditions that will include heat, cold, biting insects, wind, rain, and soft sand.
The successful applicant will have a flexible schedule, working 40 hours per week with two full days off per week. Little St. Simons Island, Georgia, is an 11,000-acre private barrier island that is only accessible by boat. Access to the mainland is limited and is not guaranteed on the intern’s time off.
