The Land Management Specialist areas of responsibility include Glacier Creek Preserve and T.L. Davis Prairie but may extend to other associated locations (e.g. Bauermeister Prairie). Primary duties of the Land Management Specialist include land management activities (e.g. mowing, prescribed burning, habitat restoration, seed collection and dispersal, and invasive species control) at Glacier Creek Preserve, T.L. Davis Prairie, and other organizations with which the Preserve has cooperative agreements, maintenance and improvement of the physical resources associated with land management (e.g. equipment, vehicles, fencing, structures), and assistance with other preserve activities as directed by the Preserves Director. The Land Management Specialist also serves as Resident Caretaker who is required to live in the house provided at Glacier Creek Preserve and is responsible for observing and, when necessary, addressing issues that require attention at the Preserve. The Resident Caretaker’s duties may temporarily be assumed by the other staff member, the Preserve Operations and Research Administrator, who has been assigned secondary Resident Caretaker duties when approved by the Preserves Director. Special arrangements may be made for university approved holidays.
