KBR’s Science and Space division is seeking a Remote Sensing Fire Scientist to support our Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC) at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation & Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD (http://www.siouxfalls.org).
The primary focus of this position is to research, develop, and apply methods to create spatial data products that describe the composition and characteristics of wildland surface and canopy fuels for the United States to support the USGS EROS Center’s Landscape Fire and Resource Management Planning Tools (LANDFIRE) Program. This position works with the existing team to investigate emerging topics in wildland fuels, smoke, and emission modeling. The candidate would also work with preliminary vegetation maps to determine how mapped vegetation affects fuels.
This position supports a coordinated team across multiple locations and offers either remote work status or a hybrid remote – onsite schedule; some travel may be required.
