Job Duties

  • Takes a leadership role in fire program management and fuels with the goal of increasing prescribed burning at all three parks as well as manual fuels reduction.

  • Designs prescribed burn and manual fuels reduction projects to enhance resources as well as improve protection of values in and adjacent to the parks

  • Works closely with other resource specialists to integrate vegetation management project designs with fuels management program objectives.

  • Reduces the wildfire risk to highly valued resources, property, and assets by preparing wildland fire risk assessments that incorporate wildland/urban interface considerations.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the fuels management program and recommends the necessary changes to achieve resource objectives.

  • Manages the park’s smoke management program by coordinating with federal, state, tribal, and local government air quality officials and following necessary operational procedures and reporting requirements.
