Northwest Management, Inc., a full-service natural resource consulting firm located in Moscow, Idaho, is seeking resumes from motivated individuals with experience and interest in hazardous forest fuels mitigation treatments, wildfire and forestry.
Position Overview:
The Fire and Fuels Forester will provide technical fire and vegetative fuels management services and outreach to family forest landowners, large industrial landowners, and public agencies. The position will assist on a variety of projects related to hazardous fuels mitigation and management in the forest, rangelands and wildland-urban interface environment. The position requires “out of town” travel (approximately 60%), with travel expenses paid by the company.
Duties:
The Fire and Fuels Forester position predominately revolves around assisting with the planning, implementation and supervision of hazardous fuels treatment projects. Alongside the core responsibilities, help with a variety of forestry related projects include pile burning, timber sale layout, stand improvement, reforestation and management planning.
Required Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in Fire Management or Forestry
1-2 years of field experience in Wildfire, Forestry, or other Natural Resources related field
Knowledge of fire ecology, behavior, and mitigation practices
Proficiency with GIS mapping tools (ArcGIS Field Maps, Avenza Maps, etc)
Experience with customer service and professional client interaction
History of working with minimal supervision while maintaining a high quality of work
Beneficial Qualifications:
Current or Recent Wildland Firefighting Qualifications
Supervisory, leadership and/or planning experience
Knowledge of Idaho State Forest Practices Act
