Join SAFE for SAFE Connections February with Dr. Ashley Grupenhoff! SAFE Connections February will take place Thursday, February 26 at 1pm PT/4pm ET.
The goal of this webinar series, hosted by the National SAFE Officers, is to provide a space for student and early career professionals to learn from and be inspired by a diversity of leaders in wildfire ecology and management, including academic, management, international, and NGOs.
Dr. Ashley R. Grupenhoff is an Assistant Professor of Wildland Fire Management in the Department of Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sciences at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Her research focuses on fire ecology, prescribed fire, fuel treatment effectiveness, and understory plant responses to fire. Dr. Grupenhoff’s work aims to improve understanding of fire impacts on wildland ecosystems and to inform management strategies that mitigate the effects of wildfire. She integrates field-based research with modeling approaches to examine how altered fire regimes influence species composition and ecosystem resilience across forest and shrubland systems. As a fire ecologist, Dr. Grupenhoff actively supports community-based burning initiatives.
