North American Forest Ecology Workshop

North American Forest Ecology Workshop

June 23-26, 2026

Missoula, Montana

The North American Forest Ecology Workshop will take place June 23-26, 2026 on the University of Montana campus in Missoula, MT. This event brings together researchers and managers to foster dialogue and discussion of current issues related to basic and applied research in forested ecosystems of North America. This conference will host plenary talks, scientific presentations, and field trips that showcase the beautiful forests of western Montana, including long-term experiments and innovative management.

We welcome organized session proposals and abstracts from diverse disciplinary perspectives: basic forest ecology, forest conservation and management, human dimensions of forests, tribal forest management, forest disturbances, fire ecology, forest technology, forest inventory, wildlife biology, and much more. We are especially interested in contributions related to our theme, “Growing Resilient Forests and Communities.”

Calls for organized sessions and contributed abstracts, as well as registration and exhibitor opportunities, will be available soon at nafew2026.org.
