Indigenous Agroforestry Network Quarterly Webinar

Join us March 18, 2026 at 11am PT to learn about Cultural Fire

Join us for the first Indigenous Agroforestry Network quarterly webinar of 2026! These webinars are designed to foster connection among agroforestry practitioners and partners, strengthen relationships, and increase awareness of programs and services available to Tribes and Indigenous land stewards.

In this session, we’ll hear from Dr. Frank Lake, Ryan Reed, and Monique Wynecoop about how Tribes are using cultural and prescribed fire as vital land management tools in California and Washington. Speakers will share their experiences applying cultural fire on the ground, discuss benefits to ecosystems and communities, and reflect on lessons learned amid increasingly catastrophic wildfire seasons.

Together, they’ll also address opportunities for growth, challenges that still need to be solved, and how other governments, agencies, and private landowners can respectfully and effectively partner with Tribes to support Indigenous-led fire stewardship.

Tune in to:

  • Learn how Tribes are using cultural and prescribed burns in land management

  • Understand the ecological and cultural benefits of cultural fire

  • Explore pathways for collaboration with Tribes and Indigenous fire practitioners

  • Hear firsthand perspectives on the role of fire in restoring balance to the landscape

This webinar is led by the Indigenous Agroforestry Network with partners across the Pacific Northwest including Ecotrust, USDA National Agroforestry Center, Intertribal Nursery Council, US Forest Service, Heritage University, the Hoopa Valley Tribe, Cal Poly Humboldt, Washington State University Extension, and Oregon State University.
