ReSHAPE: Reshaping wildfire and fuels reduction information
Tuesday, September 23 at 1pm ET
The Southwest Ecological Restoration Institutes (SWERI) established the ReShape program in response to feedback from policymakers, land managers, and researchers. ReShape compiles and displays national-scale data on forest treatments and wildfires through the Treatment and Wildfire Interagency Geodatabase (TWIG), a user-friendly, collaborative, and open-access decision support tool. The program is actively engaging with relevant audiences (land managers, collaborative groups, wildfire researchers) to encourage TWIG’s use and gather feedback on its usability. ReSHAPE program research efforts focus on four key areas: social science for collaborative decision-making, biophysical effects of forest treatments, data science for large dataset analysis, and economic assessments led by the Conservation Economics Institute.
This webinar will 1) Showcase how TWIG compiles and displays nationwide fuel treatment and wildfire data and learn how this tool can support fuel treatment research and decision-making. 2) Explore how TWIG has been used to support understanding of treatment effects and planning of effective mitigation strategies. 3) Encourage incorporation of TWIG data into project and planning workflows.
