Wayne Harrison Memorial Scholarship: Application Instructions
As a lasting contribution to the fire ecology and management community, the Wayne Harrison Memorial Scholarship supports academic and professional growth of students through funding research, management, or education projects related to wildland fire science.
Scholarships up to $2,500 are awarded annually, with applications due March 31 and awarded by May 31 each year. The number of scholarships and amount awarded will be based on the applications received in a given year.
Eligibility
Eligible students will be a full time undergraduate or graduate student, a current member of the Student Association for Fire Ecology (SAFE), and have at least one year remaining in their academic program. Underrepresented minority, low income, first generation college, veteran, and international students are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a summary report to AFE upon project completion.
Application Review Process
The AFE Awards Committee will independently review applications, score each component of the application using an evaluation rubric, and award the scholarship(s) to the highest scoring applicant(s).
