Fire Ecology Post-Doc Position, USFS

A research opportunity is available in Athens, GA with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Center for Forest Disturbance Science.


Prescribed Fire Planning Operations Specialist, Forest Stewards Guild
Closing Date: Open until filled with initial consideration starting February 28

The Prescribed Fire Planning Operations Specialist will support the Guild’s Fire Management program in Colorado. The position has both field and office responsibilities, including but not limited to collaborative burn project planning and implementation, burn plan writing, fire management plan writing, and prescribed fire operations.

 

Prescribed Fire Operations Specialist, Forest Stewards Guild

Closing Date: Open until filled with initial consideration starting February 28

The Prescribed Fire Operations Specialist will support the Guild’s Fire Management program in Colorado and be a member of the Gravitas Peak Prescribed Fire Module. The position has both field and office responsibilities, including but not limited to project implementation, leadership roles on prescribed fires and wildfires, collaborative burn coordination, and young adult mentorship.


Forest Policy Coordinator, The Nature Conservancy

Closing Date: March 6, 2020

The U.S. Government Relations (USGR) Coordinator will focus work on forests and fire, to include the policy and practice issues that intersect with climate change, among other land management issue areas. The work will occur preferably in the Arlington, VA office, with rare opportunities for travel. This position is a term limited position, ending after one year.  


Assistant Professor of Forest Health and Fire Protection, Alabama A&M University

Louisiana Burn Crew Members, The Nature Conservancy 

Closing Date: March 2, 2020

The Nature Conservancy is looking for red-carded firefighters interested in working on a seasonal prescribed fire crew in Southeast Louisiana this spring.


Prescribed Fire Team, Washington

Closing Date: Open until filled

The Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife is hiring for 3 full time, seasonal positions for the Prescribed Fire Team in the Yakima, WA.

 

Prescribed Burn Crew Member, SW Wisconsin

Quercus Land Stewardship Services is seeking experienced burn crew members and crew leaders for our Spring 2020 prescribed burn season. The prescribed burn crew positions are seasonal, and the starting date depends on the weather and is generally between early March and late March. The season typically runs through early May.


Fire Ecology Intern in AK, Student Conservation Association

The intern will assist the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Regional Fire Ecologist on field projects and will be responsible for data entry into computer databases. This position provides a variety of experiences for the intern ranging from fieldwork in one of only two road-accessible National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) in Alaska to working in remote tundra in the southwestern part of the state.


Fire Effects Monitoring Intern in WA, Student Conservation Association 

As a member of the North Cascades fire effects monitoring crew, you will learn and use standard protocols to monitor the effects of prescribed fire on plants and fuels in a variety of unique fire dependent ecosystems. In addition to reading plots that burned in prescribed burns at several national parks, you may also assist the fire ecologist with fire ecology research.
