Fire Ecology: AFE's Open Access Journal

Fire Ecology is the international scientific journal supported by the Association for Fire Ecology that publishes peer-reviewed articles on all ecological and management aspects relating to wildland fire. You can access and submit articles on the journal website.

All articles in Fire Ecology are open access, meaning full articles can be viewed and downloaded free of charge. AFE members get a 15% discount in publication costs by requesting a code from AFE and following these instructions. In addition, the journal:

  1. Advertises your published paper across a wide variety of social media channels and outlets: follow @SpringerEcology and @fireecology for the latest posts or search #SNFECO 
  2. Allows you to coordinate publication date with news releases
  3. Accepts papers from a wide diversity of disciplines from social science to hazard and risk analysis
  4. Has approximately a 8 month timeline from submission to publication and will hopefully have a 6 month timeline in 2021
