AFE Journal Submission Payments

Publication Costs

In order to keep Fire Ecology as an open access journal, we charge authors a per paper cost. If this cost causes any undue hardship, please contact Fire Ecology editor Jim Agee. Learn more about how to submit.

1. There is a two-tier charge for Original Research Papers: $200 ($250 non-AFE) for papers that in published form are less than 20 journal pages in length, and $400 ($500 non-AFE) for papers longer than that.

2. There is a $75 (AFE member) or $100 (non-AFE member) charge for Short Communications (these must be within the 8-page maximum length)

3. There are no publication charges for Forum Articles and Book Reviews.
